Basildon Town U16's v Stambridge United 13/11/11

1-2

Basildon started well and played some great football. Stambridge took there time to get into the game, through the good work of Basildon. Basildon were very unlucky not to take the lead when a good ball into the box was taken down by Calum Barnes but the ball would not come down and the shot went just over the bar. Then just when it looked like the teams would be going in level Stambrige pressured Bas Town into a mistake giving them a goal right on half time. The second half started with Bas Town putting the pressure on, it took its toll with Stambridge forced into making a risky back pass which saw a mistake by the keeper and letting in an own goal leveling the scores. The teams were both playing good football and evenly matched, when a big clearance caught the back line of Bas Town square with the Stambridge forward taking his chance very well to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. Basildon pushed hard but with little luck lossing the game. The boys of Basildon are not far away from their first points of the season if they carry on playing this way.
